8.00 am: you will be picked up by our driver at your hotel in Hanoi. car transfer to Duong Lam village, Son Tay. The ancient village of Duong Lam on the outskirts of Hanoi is also known as a museum of laterite, home to around 300 houses built three or four centuries ago with lateritic bricks. The village has also been described as the last stronghold of wet rice farming culture in northern Vietnam.

After about one hour drive you arrive in Duong Lam. There you can have some walk around the village, take a bike ride to Phung Hung and Ngo Quyen temple or visit the Mia pagoda.

After lunch, you will be transferred by car to Tay Phuong Pagoda. Tay Phuong Pagoda, also known as Sung Phuc Pagoda, consists of three single-level structures built in descending order on a hillock that is said to resemble a buffalo. Figures representing ‘the conditions of man’ are the pagoda’s most celebrated feature – carved from jackfruit wood, many date from the 18th century. The earliest construction dates from the 8th century.

Take the steep steps up to the main pagoda building, then find a path at the back that loops down past the other two pagodas and wander through the adjacent hillside village.

Around mid-afternoon, you will be brought back to Hanoi. End.
